Zakat calculator by Zakat Compass

Copy the code

Please keep the small "Zakat calculator by Zakat Compass" link. It is the only thing we ask in return, and it helps other Muslims find the full calculator.

How to add it

  1. WordPress: edit the page, add a Custom HTML block, paste the code, then update the page.
  2. Wix: add Embed Code, choose Embed HTML, paste the code and set it to Code.
  3. Squarespace: add a Code block and paste the code.
  4. Blogger: in Layout, add an HTML/JavaScript gadget, or switch a post to HTML view and paste it.
  5. Any other site: paste the code into the page's HTML where you want the calculator to appear.

What it does

  • Fills in today's gold and silver price per gram and the nisab automatically, in 20 currencies including GBP, USD, CAD, AUD, EUR, PKR, INR and AED.
  • Lets visitors choose the silver or gold nisab, and the purity of their gold (24k, 22k, 21k or 18k).
  • Adds cash and savings, gold, silver, investments and business stock, and money owed to them, then subtracts debts due now.
  • Works on phones, and with screen readers such as TalkBack and VoiceOver.
  • Fits the width of your page and has a dark version for dark websites.

What it never does

  • No cookies, no tracking and no adverts.
  • It saves nothing. Numbers your visitors type stay on their own device and disappear when they leave the page.
  • It does not collect money or donations. Your masjid stays in charge of how zakat is given.

The result is an estimate for guidance, not a fatwa. The widget says this to every visitor and suggests asking a local scholar when unsure.

Options

Change these words inside the first line of the code if you need them:

  • data-lang="ur" for Urdu, data-lang="en" for English.
  • data-currency="GBP" to start in a set currency. Without it, the widget guesses from the visitor's time zone.
  • data-nisab="gold" to start on the gold nisab. Silver is the default.
  • data-theme="dark" for websites with a dark background.
